본 연구의 목적은 공권력의 상징이자 국민들의 일상생활의 안녕에 지대한 영향을 미치는 경찰조직의 부패현상에 대해 살펴보고 부패에 영향을 미치는 요인을 밝혀 보는데 있다. 이 연구에서는 경찰부패에 영향을 미치는 개인적 요인으로 부패에 대한 인식과 금전적 욕망, 조직내재적 요인으로는 조직내부의 상납관행, 의리의식, 신분 불안정, 낮은 보수수준, 업무환경적 요인으로는 청탁압력, 고객의 부패유인, 사회 전반적인 답례문화 등이 중요하게 나타났다.
The purpose of this study is to examine the corruption of the police, a symbol of the public power conducive to the safety of people's ordinary life, and thereupon, determine the factors affecting the police corruption. To this end, such demographic variables as policemen's perception and attitude towards corruption and their desire for money were found important as independent variables together with such intra-organizational factors as practice of tribute, sense of loyalty, unstable status and lower level of salary. In addition, such environmental factors as soliciting pressure, citizens' enticement and culture of return.
