A Structural Integration of Texts Related to Michal: Michal's Love for David and Saul's Hatred of David

다윗에 대한 사화들 중, 매우 파격적인 내용 하나가 등장한다. 구약성경 안에서 유일하게 한 여성이 남성에게 가졌던 애정을 표현 하고 있다는 차원에서 파격적이고, 그러나 상대는 그녀의 애정을 방편으로 계급적 신분 상승이라는 놀라운 정치적 결과를 획득하였다는 점에서 궁금증을 증폭시키는 이야기이다. 바로 다윗과 미칼, 그리고 사울의 이야기이다. 본 연구는 특별히 미칼이라는 비극적 인물에 집중하여 전개되었다. 연구 결과, 미칼 관련 보도들은 매우 체계적인 일관성 안에 전개되고 있음을 발견할 수 있다. 그녀의 정체성은 매우 치밀한 구조〔사울의 딸(2번)→다윗의 아내 →사울의 딸→다윗의 아내 →사울의 딸(2번)〕로 전개되었고, 문체적 측면에서도 ‘짧은 보도’와 ‘긴 보도’가 교차 배열적 질서 안에 제시되고 있었다. 또한 신명기계-역대기계 역사가에 있어서 미칼은 ‘다윗의 아내’라기보다 ‘사울의 딸’로서 주도적으로 인식되고 있음이 드러났다. 7개의 관련 본문 중, 총 5개에 해당되는 본문이 그녀를 주로 ‘사울의 딸’이라는 신분으로 제시하고 있기 때문이며, 그녀를 처음 소개한 두 본문과 마지막 등장한 두 본문이 ‘사울의 딸’로서의 모습에 더 비중을 두고 묘사하고 있기 때문이다. 그러나 이러한 사울과 미칼의 중첩-부합적 연계성은 사울의 죽음 이후부터 부각된 내용이었다. 사울이 생존하고 있을 때 부녀는 오히려 다윗을 두고 상호 대립적인 입장(사울의 적의와 미칼의 사랑이 하나의 연결 모티브를 이룸)을 견지한다.

In the story of David, there exists an exceptional and unprecedented passage. The fact that this passage reveals a woman's love towards a man is only one of the kinds in the Old Testament, and the fact that the man gets a social rank promotion on the basis of this woman's love gives arise to a much curiosity. This is the very story of David, Michal, and the King Saul. In this study, we focused particularly on the tragical portrait of Michal. This study showed that the most of the reports related to Michal portray her in a well structured integrity. Her identity was developed in a carefully constructed order[as a King Saul's daughter(twice) → as a David's wife → as a Saul's daughter → as a David's wife → and as a Saul's daughter again(twice)], and also from the literary point of view, 'short notation' and 'long narration' are presented in a chiastic structure. In addition, from deuteronomistic-chronicle historians point of view, Michal was portrayed more as a 'Saul's daughter' than as a 'David's wife'. This is because of the 7 related passages, 5 passages in total describe her as a 'Saul's daughter', and also the first two passages where she is first introduced and the last two passages depict her more strongly as a 'Saul's daughter'. However, this linkage between Saul and Michal is in fact emphasized only after Saul's death. When Saul was alive, the father and the daughter maintained a rather opposing standpoint in regards to David(Saul's hatred and Michal's love creating one connecting motive).
