Network theory explores the relationship between the corruptor, the corrupted, and other participants in police corruption. More specifically, it provides a map indicating the shared role and the degree or direction of influence among the corruption participants. The three major forms of police corruption are the corrupt practices linked to traffic control, the regulation of disciplinary shops and business and incident solving requests. These forms of police corruption are reported in South Korean newspapers and are analysed by using network theory. The article concludes by suggesting that training and public relations in the police should be improved. and that salaries and morale should also be improved to raise the status of the policemen.
