A Study of Beauty Trend-based Make-up Color Expression in Fashion Collections

This study attempted to examine how makeup color expressions in beauty trends reflect designers’ intention in their designs unveiled at the Paris Collections in the 21st century, going beyond the category of ‘fashion collection.’ In addition, it sought to understand makeup patterns in beauty trends and annual fashion collections and determine how they are correlated with beauty trends and fashion collections. According to analysis of beauty trend-based makeup color expressions unveiled in the Paris Collections, makeup should deliver an image in harmony with the body image intended by the designer. Focusing on the expression of a designer’s subjective artistry, the human body was beautified with diverse makeup materials and expressions, and unique makeup techniques were used. The new artistic values of makeup were expressed through natural, gorgeous patterns and primary color-based painting techniques along with beautiful costumes. It is expected that the study results would be useful in predicting makeup color trends.
