블레빈스 외 편(2009)은 2006년에 막스 플랑크 진화인류학 연구소에서 개최된 동일 제목의 워크숍의 성과를 하나의 책으로 묶어낸 것이다. 블레빈스 외 편(2009)은 전체 3부 구성으로 이루어져 있는데 첫 번째는 유추가 패러다임을 중심으로 한 언어 체계의 조직에서 기여하는 부분을 살펴보는 것으로 2장, 3장, 4장이 이에 속하고 두 번째는 기계를 포함하여 인간 언어 학습에서 유추의 역할을 조망해 보는 것으로 5장, 6장, 7장이 이에 속한다. 세 번째는 유추를 형식적으로 모형화하는 다양한 방안에 대해 살펴보는 부분인데 8장, 9장, 10장이 이에 속한다. 한편 블레빈스 외 편(2009)에서 소개된 유추에 대한 다양한 시각 가운데는 한국어의 연구에 적용될 만한 것이 적지 않다. 통사론 분야에서도 유추의 영향성을 살필 수 있는 것은 새로운 영역으로의 유추의 적용 가능성 모색을 의미한다면 한국어의 ‘PK’ 교체, ‘-(으)ㅁ’을 중심으로 한 음운론과 형태론의 갈등, 한국어의 사이시옷 출현에 대한 구성족 개념 등은 새로운 관점으로의 유추의 적용 가능성 타진으로 이해할 수 있다.

Blevins et al(eds.)(2009) grew out of a workshop which took place in 2006 at the Marx Planck Instutute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, Germany. Blevins et al(eds.)(2009) is composed of three parts. The papers in part 1(chapter 2, 3 and 4) consider aspects of the organization of linguistic systems and the levels at which analogy operates in these systems. The papers in part 2(chapter 5, 6 and 7) turn to the role that analogy plays in language learning, by humans but also by machines. The papers in parts 3(chapter 8, 9, 10) try to model analogy formally. By the way, various points of view presented in Blevins et al(eds.)(2009) about analogy can be applied to the research of Korean. The possibility of establishing syntactical analogy in Korean can be seen as an extension to the new territory of analogy. ‘PK’ alternation in Koran, confliction between phonology and morphology based on Korean ‘-(u)m’, and the concept of constituent family in appearance of Korean ‘Sai-sios’ are considered as a taking soundings of potential application of analogy.
