기장의 옛 지명과 그 문화사적 의미

Old place name of 機張 and meaning of caltural history -centrally about place name '甲火良谷', '機張', '車城'-

機張의 옛 이름은 '甲火良谷'으로 기록되어 있다. 또 다른 이름으로 '車城'의 기록도 있다. 지금까지의 연구는 '甲火良谷'과 '機張'의 관계성에 집중되어 있었고, '車城'의 의미와 다른 지명과의 연관성에 대해서는 연구가 진행되지 않았다. 기존의 연구는 '機張'과 '甲火良谷'은 각각 동일한 의미로 파악하고 있다. 한자의 대응 양식이 '機 : 甲', '張 : 火良'로 추정하여 연구되었던 것이다. 그러나 본 논문에서는 이런 대응 양상이 잘못된 것임을 밝히고, '機張'과 '甲火良谷'은 서로 다른 의미를 지닌 지명임을 밝혔다. '甲火良谷'은 가라어의 영향을 받은 고지명이며, 그 의미는 '큰 벌판, 大邑' 정도임을 밝혔다. 이를 바탕으로 '機張' 지역은 과거 가라의 영토에 해당하며, 가라 세력이 자리 잡고 있었음을 알 수 있다. 이는 이 지역에서 나온 도기의 출토에서도 확인할 수 있다. 또한 현 지명인 '機張'은 『說文解字』의 설명을 인용하여 '활 시위', '활 시위를 당기는 모양의 장소', '군사적으로 중요한 지역'으로 해석하는 것이 타당함을 밝혔다. 마지막으로 '車城'은 고지명 '甲火良谷'과 현 지명 '機張' 사이의 관계를 해명해 줄 자료로 '大邑'의 의미를 가진 지명으로 해석하였다. 이를 바탕으로 분석해보면 '甲火良谷'에서 '車城' 그리고 '機張'으로 이어지는 지명의 해석에 큰 도움을 줄 것으로 판단한다.

Old name of '機張' is recorded with '甲火良谷'. Another name is recorded with '車城'. The study so far ; '機張' and '甲火良谷' is understood at the same meaning of each. Correspondence format of chinese character was studied with '機:甲', '張:火良', but in this paper this correspondence format reveals to be wrong and '機:甲', '張:火良' investigated location term that has different meaning. The reason can confirm a separate word that doesn't seem to correlate in ancient chinese character and Middle Chinese character of '機:甲'. '甲火良谷' is an old region that receives influence of a language of gara. This meaning is disclose with 'big field, 大邑' on the basis of this thing. The region of '機張' is territory of Gara, and we can know that another different Gara group take up the place. Appearance of pottery that appears in this region, we can confirm. Also '機張', present local name, cited explanation of 『說文解字』 and it is revealed at place of form where people pull a bowstring. Finally, '車城' is data that explains relationship between an old local name '甲火良谷' and a present local name '機張' and is interpreted as local name that has meaning of important region millitaritly. Analysing these things at base, it is judged that it will help interpret local name that get '車城' to '甲火良谷' and '機張'.
