3D 프린터를 이용한 도자공예 제작에 관한 연구

A Study on The Production of Studio Pottery by a 3D Printer

3D프린터의 새로운 조형성과 생산성에 대한 도예계의 관심과 기대가 뜨겁다. 도자와 3D프린터가 결합한지 채 10여년이 되지 않았지만, 전 세계 도예가 및 관계 기관들이 무서운 속도로 3D프린터의 기술과 재료를 개발하고 많은 결과들을 만들고 있다. 이들의 기술적 진보와 성과를 공유하고 3D 프린터가 도자공예와 우리 삶에 가져올 영향과 미래를 고민하기 위한 전시 및 담론 역시 활발히 진행 중이다. 3D프린터는 18세기 말 산업혁명이후 공예와 결합했던 수많은 기계생산수단의 계보를 잇고 있다. 본 연구는 최신 하이테크 생산기술인 3D프린터의 역량과 영향력이 지난 산업사회의 기계생산수단들과 비교할 수 없을 만큼 강력하다는 점에 주목한다. 본 연구는 3D프린터와 도자공예 관계 맺기가 비교적 최근에 일어나고 있는 현상이라는 점과 진화중이라는 점을 고려하여, 2장에서 3D프린터와 도자공예의 접목과 국내외 사례를 먼저 살펴보고자 한다. 3장에서 3D프린터로 대표되는 디지털 제조방식과 도자공예의 융합이 갖는 의미와 3D프린터로 만든 공예품이 우리 삶에 미칠 영향과 의미를 탐색하고자 한다. 이로서 3D프린터의 사용과 확산에 임할 공예가들이 가져야할 의식과 태도 즉, 기존 도자공예가 가진 철학적 가치와 사회적 역할을 지키고 회복하면서도 도예가들이 새로운 디지털 제조방식을 어떻게 활용하고 발전시켜야 할지 미래 방향을 제시하고자 한다.

3D printer draws attention of the potter’s arts on new formativeness and productivity. It has passed 10 years at most since ceramic and a 3D printer was combined each other but ceramists, designer and institutions have developed materials and technologies of a 3D printer and they have presented many projects. Prohibitions and discussions of sharing progress and development of 3D printer and considering the effects of our future are actively under way. A 3D printer succeeds many machine tools which were combined with crafts after the end of 18th century. This study shows that a 3D printer of cutting edge technology is likely to influence our lives as well as potter’s arts which are very powerful indescribably. For that, the chapter 1 and 2 of this study look at integration of a 3D printer and craft as well as domestic and foreign cases while considering that the combination of a 3D printer and craft happens recently and is progressing. The chapter 3 attracts attention of modern craft discussion which have dealt with the meaning and changes which have been brought by the combination with machine tools and craft since the 18th century. On the basis of that, the study tries to observe, the meaning of integration between digital manufacturing ways and ceramic crafts, third, effect of crafts made by a 3D printer on our lives. Therefore, the study tries to suggest the future direction about how ceramists use and develop new digital manufacturing ways while they keep and recover philosophical values and social roles in connection with the expansion of a 3D printer usage.
