Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera (1986), an adaptation of Gaston Leroux’s French novel Le Fantome de l’Opera, is one of the most successful musical adaptations ever produced. This paper discusses the 2011 film adaptation of Webber’s musical, The Phantom of the Opera, with an emphasis on psychological perspectives and the representation of characters. Hence, Christine’s vacillation and conflict between Raul and the Phantom is discussed from this psychological perspective centrally.
