이 글은 2014년 독일인 경제학자 하인(Hein)이 쓴 『케인즈 이후의 분배와 성장: 포스트 케인지언 경제학의 길라잡이(Distribution and Growth after Keynes: A Post-Keynesian Guide)』에 대한 서평이다. 이 책에서 하인은 맑스와 케인즈 그리고 칼레츠키의 경제학을 바탕으로 21세기 자본주의가 어떻게 작동하는지를 분석한다. 이를 위해 성장 위주의 주류 성장론의 오류를 넘어, 분배가 성장의 중요한 변수라는 점을 신고전파 성장론과 케인지언 성장론, 포스트 케인지언과 포스트 칼레츠키언 성장론의 전개과정을 되새기면서 확인한다. 아울러 포스트 칼레츠키언 기본 모형에 ‘임금소득자의 저축’, ‘국제무역’, ‘기술 진보’, ‘이자와 신용’ 및 ‘금융화’라는 변수를 하나씩 추가하며 대안적 성장과 분배론을 완성해 간다. 이를 통해 이 책은 대안 부재에 허덕이는 세계 경제학계는 물론 한국 경제학계에도 큰 시사점을 제공한다.

This Review is about a book named ‘Distribution and Growth after Keynes: A Post-Keynesian Guide’, which is written by a german economist Eckhard Hein in 2014. In the book Hein provides guidance for alternative economic theories after Keynes and successfully brings a long-forgotten theme: distribution as center of economic analysis. For that Hein presents at first an overview of the various economic growth models including old and new neoclassical, Keynesian, Post Keynesian and Post Kaleckian growth models towards distribution and growth. After that he gradually extends basic Kaleckian models by introducing saving from wages, international trade, technological progress, interest and credit and ‘financialisation’ with results of several empirical works. This book should be of value for not only students but also for researchers and policy makers, who are interested in issues of distribution and growth in the contemporary capitalism and its long-term stagnation.
