A Study on Fashion Design Applying Arc Works of Richard Serra

Nowadays fashion industry have collaborated with other area like architecture, drawings, and formative arts, which made a big trend in contemporary society. The purpose of this study is to make the creative artwears using design inspiration which were grasped from the characteristics of external form and internal meanings of Arc works of Richard serra. The methods of this study were centered on literature review including previous studies and design plans were carried out based on analysis of Serra's arc works. We set up the whole concept as 'chaos' and made creative 3 piece of artwears from the literature review and analysis of arc works, 'curved shape' and 'instability' that were derived from external characteristics and 'site-specificity' and 'experienced spaced' were from internal characteristics. The complicated and continuous curve induce dizziness and make general disproportion according to the comparison of material, shape, and weigh. Wearer can participate in this work by the way of wearing clothes and also looking positions and angles can be changed according to the volume of shape. This study have a meaning to help creative fashion design panning by the analysis on internal characteristics and external characteristics of works combining fashion and sculpture territory.
