An Empirical Test on the Intellectual Property Right Trade of Korea

The purpose of this paper is to focus a discussion on the trade of the Intellectual Property Right (IPR) as a part of creating our country’s future growth engine. Therefore this study made on the IPR of Korea by industry and yearly Industrial Property Right(patent rights, trademark rights, design rights etc.) To analyze the relevant data, the 32 countries are collected including 27 OECD-member countries and several Asian ones which trade more with Korea such as China, India, Indonesia, Singapore, and Vietnam. In particular, the study deduced the correlation between IPR export in Korea using the variables of Gross Domestic Expenditure and population, distance, Technology Trade, IP export by country, IP import by country random effect model in panel linear regression model. It is found that the IPR export of Korea made a significant effect on the Technology Trade, pop, IP export and import by country. This study contributed to understanding of Macroeconomic indicators effective Intellectual Property Right trade in Korea and empirical analysis to show correlation between the factors affecting Intellectual Property Right trade.
