Worldwide reshoring policy to uplift manufacturing firms will continue until worldwide economic recession takes place. Recovery of U.S. economy will influence expansion of Korean export. To increase international competitiveness, Korean firms relocated their manufacturing facilities to neighboring countries which weakened manufacturing base of Korea and decreased employment. In the rapidly changing state of affairs, policy adjustment and structural reform is needed to promote new employment and maintain firm international competitiveness. With globalization trend of reshoring, Korean government has adopted reshoring policy under the name of‘U-turn firm support law’ since 2013. Even though Korean government promotes reshoring policy, the process of receiving benefit is not easy for Korean firms. Also, production delay due to the numerous document processing requirement and high labor costs prevents firms from reshoring. Considering reshoring policy of developed country for the purpose of promoting manufacturing industry, it is essential for Korea to research and draw policy implication. Thus, this study analyzes reshoring trends and policy of main countries and draw policy implication by conducting comparison analysis.
