This empirical study focuses on the mutual influence among the main industry indices relative to the South Korea-US Free Trade Agreement. We examine the interdependence of Korea’s distribution sector index, manufacturing industry index and food industry index relative to the South Korea-US Free Trade Agreement in Korea using 2154 daily data or observations from January 29, 2008 to March 29, 2016. We employ the impulse response function based on the VAR model as well as variance decomposition after unit root tests and the cointegration test were performed. Results showed from basic statistical analysis that Korea’s distribution sector index, manufacturing industry index and food industry index relative to the South Korea-US Free Trade Agreement have unit roots. In addition, there is at least one cointegration among them. Lastly, we find that Korea’s distribution sector index and manufacturing industry index relative to the South Korea-US Free Trade Agreement Granger-cause Korea’s manufacturing industry index and food industry index.
