A Study on Reducing the Aged Traffic Accidents

우리사회는 평균수영이 연장됨에 따라 급격한 고령화 사회로 진행되고 있어 여러가지 사회적 문제를 발생하고 있다. 우리나라의 고령인구는 2000년에 전 인구의 7.2％를 돌파하여 고령화 사회에 진입하였으며 2018년에 고령사회, 2026년에는 초고령 사회에 도달할 것으로 전망되고 있다. 인구고령화에 따른 사회적 문제 중의 하나로 대두되는 것이 바로 노인 교통사고의 증가이다, 최근 우리나라에서도 노인교통사고의 증가에 따른 대책이 시급한 상황이다. 이를 위해서 법적ㆍ제도적 측면의 정착과 교통환경적 측면의 노인교통사고의 감소를 위한 교통안전시설과 노인보호구역 (Silver Zone) 등의 지속적 확대 시행 그리고 교육 및 홍보적 측면에서의 교육 및 홍보가 이루어져야 한다. 특히 노인의 신체적 노화에 따른 신체적 특성을 강안한 노인의 교통안전 정책의 개선에 대한 대책이 수립ㆍ시행되어 빠르게 진행되고 있는 고령화 사회를 대비한 사회안전정책의 수립시행이 필요하다.

Korea exceeded the level of 7.2% of the total population in 2000, which means the Korea society just entered the Aging Society. It is believed that S. Korea will reach to the Aged Society in 2018 and the Super-Aged Society in 2026. One of the several social problems caused by the Aged Society is the increase of the traffic accidents involving the aged. Therefore, this research proposes an alternative policy in order to reduce the aged traffic accidents by dealing with the trend of the recent total traffic accidents occurrence in S. Korea, In terms of the law and institution, it is necessary to make an effort for the settlement of the very advanced institution, The aspects of traffic environment emphasizes to install traffic facilities such as traffic lights, mad signs, etc for reducing the dangers of traffic activities. The last aspect is education and public relation(PR). They can mainly protect and support the aged Especially it is necessary to establish social safety policy in preparation for the rapid developing Aging Society by improving the traffic safety policy for the aged.
