The Key Words of Social Science that Define the Twenty First Century

본 논문에서는 지난 수십 년간 국내외 사회과학분야에서 가장 주목을 받고 많이 사용되어온 단어나 표현을 살펴보고자 한다. 이러한 개념들은 또한 21세기 사회과학계를 규정한다고 해도 과히 틀린 말이 아니다. 지난 수십 년간 사회과학에서 가장 유행했던 그리고 담론을 주도했던 단어들을 다음을 포함한다. 후기 관료제 또는 탈 관료제(post-bureaucracy), 참여(Participation), 분권화(decentralization). 수권(empowerment). 경쟁(competition). 소비자 주권과 선택의 자유(freedom to choose). 시장화(marketization) 와 민영화(Privatization). 거래비용(transaction costs), 규제와 탈규제(regulation and deregulation), 관여(involvement)와 몰입(commitment), 학습(learning), 수월성(excellence), 성과 평가(performance evaluation). 혁신(innovation). 조직 문화(organizational culture). 신뢰(trust) 와 사회적 자본(social capital), 협력(cooperation) 과 협동(collaboration). 거버넌스(governance), 정책 네트워크(policy network) 조직간 관계(inter-organizational relations), 협력 기획(collaborative planning) 과 협동 설계 (collaborative designs). 서비스 통합 (Service integration) 과 직업 간 협력(inter-professional collaboration). 융합(convergence)이 있다. 이러한 논의를 통하여 지난 수십 년간 사회과학과 사회현상을 지배해온 현상과 개념을 이해하는데 그리고 미래학적 관점에서 미래의 트렌드롤 예측하는데도 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다.

This paper intends to examine the key words or concepts that have defined social science of the last several decades. It is also expected that these concepts will influence the Twenty First Century social science. They include the following: post-bureaucracy, participation, decentralization and empowerment, competition, consumer sovereignty and freedom to choose, marketization and privatization, transaction costs, regulation and deregulation, involvement and commitment, learning, excellence, performance evaluation, learning and innovation, organizational culture, trust and social capital, cooperation and collaboration, governance, policy network, inter-organizational relations, collaborative planning and collaborative designs, service integration and inter-professional collaboration, and convergence. The examination of these concepts will not only help understand the underlying trends of social science and social phenomena, but also help predict the future trends of social science and society.
