Vietnam is known as the world’s cradle of tea. Almost nowhere in the world but Vietnam is given a favor,by nature,to be permissive to grow tea spreading on the whole country. Tea also has a long history in Vietnam. However Vietnam’s tea export value is not high. Besides tea production systems are fundamentally small grower-based except some foreign companies’ plants. Also, Vietnam Tea Industry has some problems which make this sector only contribute small part in the total export value of agriculture in Vietnam. Vietnamese Government has set broad goals for tea industry in a strategic way for developing a certain suburban and mountainous areas, the local governments of various levels of tea production areas pay a considerable attention to expand tea production including the production of material tea and the processing industry. In this paper, we focus on the current state and features of tea industry in Vietnam, point out limitations of this sector and propose solutions to deal with these.
