학생에 대한 교사의 신뢰 인식과 실천

Teachers Perception and Practice of Trust in Students -Aiming at Establishment Ddadeutan Educational Community

이 연구의 목적은 교사가 가지고 있는 학생에 대한 신뢰 인식을 알아보고, 이에 따라 학생과 신뢰를 형성하고 유지하는 과정에서 교사들이 겪는 경험을 살펴보는 데 있다. 이를 위해 18명의 교사를 대상으로 면담을 실시하였으며, 근거이론방법을 적용하여 도출해 낸 학생에 대한 교사의 신뢰 인식은 다음과 같다. 첫째, ‘당위적 신뢰’는 교사이기 때문에 먼저 학생들을 믿어야한 다는 의무감을 가지고 그들을 믿는것과 관련이 있다. 둘째, ‘판단적 신뢰’는 교사의 교육적 기대가 학생들의 말과 행동으로 일관되게 충족되는지에 따라 학생에 대한 신뢰 인식이 달라지는 것과 연관된다. 셋째, ‘포괄적 신뢰’는 학생에 대한 신뢰를 판단하는 완벽한 기준이 없고, 학생들이 교사의 기대에 어긋난 행동을 할 수 있음을 인식한 결과 학생의 내면과 변화가능성까지 이해하려는 노력으로 볼 수 있다. 이 연구는 학생과 교사에게 신뢰가 주는 교육적 의미를 알아보고, 학생과의 신뢰를 위해 교사에게 요구되는 자질을 제시함으로써 교사와 학생의 신뢰 관계에 기여할 것이다.

The purpose of this study was to understand the perception of teacher trust in students and explain the experiences of school teachers in the formation and development of trust with students. In order to accomplish this, the data for the research was gathered through the interviews with eighteen school teachers. These data were analyzed using Grounded Theory. The perception of trust in students can be summed up as follows. First, Obligational trust involves teachers feeling obliged to trust students. Trust was regarded as an educational precondition by teachers and they tried to develop rapport with students by continuously showing trust to students from the beginning. Second, Conditional trust depends on whether students utterance and behaviors are fulfilling the expectations that teachers have toward students. The degree of trust in each student can be changeable by their behaviors. Lastly, Comprehensive trust is developed as teachers experience varying degree of trust in students. Teachers had difficulties in judging trust in students only by students utterance and behaviors. As a result, teachers made efforts to observe students more carefully, accept them as they are and tried to understand each student s own background and potential. On the basis of these findings, we can understand the educational meanings of trust on students and teachers. Also, it can be helped reliable relationship between students and teachers by exploring the teacher qualification to build trust in students.
