무상원조가 경제성장에 미치는 효과

The Impact of Grants on Economic Growth: Evidence from Korea s Major Recipient Countries

본 논문은 우리나라의 42개 중점협력 수원국들을 대상으로 1996-2013년 기간의 자료를 사용하여 이 국가들에 제공되는 무상원조가 수원국의 경제성장에 의미있는 기여를 하는지를 실증 분석한다. 동 연구의 패널분석 확장모형의 추정결과에 의하면 정태적 및 동태적 분석 모두에서 무상원조가 경제성장에 통계적으로 유의미한 양(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타난다. 그리고 이러한 무상원조의 경제성장 효과는 물가상승률로 측정된 거시경제정책 조건에 의해 유의미한 영향을 받고 있지 않는 것으로 분석되며, 이와 함께 경제성장의 무상원조에 대한 수확체감의 증거가 다소 나타나고 있는 것으로 보인다.

Using the panel analysis for 42 main development partners of Korea during 1996-2013, this paper analyzes empirically the impact of grants on economic growth in the recipient countries. The estimation results of both static and dynamic analysis in the extended panel model show that grants have a positive and significant effect on economic growth. In particular, the positive effect of grants on economic growth is revealed not to be conditional upon macroeconomic policy expressed in terms of inflation rate. However, there are some evidence of diminishing return to grants.
