Characteristics of Balkan Languages and Their Limits Reflected on Romanian Language

루마니아어는 언어 계보적으로 라틴어에서 발전한 언어이며 구조적인 면에서 기본적으로 라틴어를 계승하고 있어서 프랑스어, 이탈리아어, 스페인어 등과 같은 로망스어 가운데 하나인 것으로 알려져 있다. 하지만 그럼에도 불구하고 라틴어에서 발전한 여타의 로망스어에서는 볼 수 없는 몇 가지 특징을 가지고 있는데 이러한 특징은 대부분 발칸언어들로부터의 영향으로 알려져 있다. 예를들어, 정관사가 전접어 형태로 수식하는 명사에 후치되는 것은 발칸언어들에서 나타나는 현상으로 라틴어에서는 볼 수 없는 매우 독특한 특징이라 할 수 있다. 이에 본고에서는 루마니아어에서 나타나는 이러한 발칸언어적인 영향의 양상과 한계를 평가하고 하고 여타의 라틴어를 계승한 언어들, 즉 서유럽의 로망스어들 에서 나타나는 양상과 비교하였다. 루마니아어는 서 로망스어들과 비교하여 볼 때, 이들과 구별되는 특성을 가지고 있지만 그러한 특성들은 라틴어적 특성과 혼재된 채 존재하며, 큰 들에서는 라틴어의 구조내에서 수렴되는 측면을 보이고 있다. 다만 ‘접속법의 확산’ 등 일부 요소들에서는 발칸지역 언어들의 영향이 나타난다고 할 수 있다.

Romanian is known as one of the Romance languages like France, Italian, Spanish which succeeded latin and it has basically linguistic structure of latin by this reason. In spite of this fact, Romanian has some specific characteristics which are not reflecting quite Romance language character and these strange facts are considered as characteristics of Balkan area languages. For example, definite article which is situated right behind the noun it determines as an enclitic is quite unusual. In this article, I examined the unusual aspects of Balkan languages elements reflected on Romanian and tried to verify the limitation of these influences by comparaing with other Western Romance Languages. From the comparative viewpoints with other Romance languages, Romanian certainly has some distinguishing characteristics of Balkan languages, but these characteristics exist being mixed with those of latin and macroscopically they are integrated into latin structure even though some elements, such as ‘diffusion of conjunctive by substituting infinitive’. could be considered apparently Balkan language influences.
