Children interpret art as a learning subject rather than as an artisticvalue itself like the adults do. Thus, educating children through art enables children to express thoughts and feelings on their own, and further on can be used as a therapeutic tool for the healthy development of individual child. But if any negative or distorted images were introduced during this process of education, it could greatly damage child s affective development causing disability. Children should be exposed gradually to the constant stimulation of images since they are capable of absorbing large amount of information like sponge before they process and store them in their memory. These imges have to be spontaneous and satisfy children s instinct positively. Often, misunderstanding and preconception of the word, “therapy,” can also cause difficulty in proper growth of children. But, “therapy” does not just mean curing troubled beings, but also mean helping of enriching healthy beings. From this perspective, Children s art education has a therapeutic meaning of helping children s development through proper educational activities that provide constant images relevant to the cognitive and emotional level of children.
