The Korea s seventh curriculum emphasizes fine-art culture education and corresponding appreciation education. It likewise focuses on nurturing human beings to be autonomous and creative so as to lead the 21st century of globalization and information. It concentrates on diversified and multi-culture education. The curriculum seeks to promote students adaptation to globalization and information trends and initiatives, and to expand autonomy in the formulation and operation of curricula. It likewise seeks to embrace the characteristics of fine art and education, and to reflect learners concern and interest and to allow them to practice fine art in daily life. The curriculum also focuses on establishing the identify of our cultures, promoting the understanding on world cultures, and reinforcing the establishment of aesthetic sensitivity and views on value. Appreciation education in fine art needs to take into account sufficiently children s intellectual development levels and their ability to respond to beauty, and then to offer diverse creative programs fitting children s development levels. Currently active in the nation s fine art education field are research efforts regarding the appreciation of artists works and appreciation education about museums of fine art and museums. However, much research on nature appreciation has yet to be conducted. This research aims to offer both expression and appreciation education through nature appreciation, as it offers as many children as possible opportunities to conduct nature appreciation activities by working out appropriate nature appreciation program measures. It likewise aims to promote children s aesthetic eye, and to help foster an attitude to enjoy fine art in their life, thus enriching their lives.
