This paper looked into what characterizes the gifted in fine art, how the gift for fine art develops, what interaction the gifted in fine art has with the environment and what developmental stage the gifted undergoes, by observing and having an in-depth interview with L who has the precocious ability and gift for fine art. The purpose of this study was to help those- who are interested in the development and achievement of the gifted in fine art- expand and renew the perspective. The gift of L for fine art is revealed clearly in various aspects. In the first place, his gift meets the high criteria for the gifted in fine art while creating a lot of works continuously. L displays the characteristics of the Period of Decision for the three dimensional spatial expression even in the developmental stage of children when children of his age start to learn the concept of objects and schematize the concept. In other words, the important characteristics of visual observation is that he approaches the objects from the perspective of their outward appearances and perceives himself as the spectator, starting from his own environment, looks at the overall aspect without perceiving the details at first, analyzes those details or partial impression later, and finally synthesize parts into a whole. L describes the train or subway train very precisely because he mobilizes the support of intelligence to the tactic of memory, though he does not see them very often. He creates the experience using his sensory system and internal conditions when he draws structure and buildings, and interacts with the environment by selecting the form of image called fine art . Eventually, the form of image becomes a part of characteristics which comprise the environment. The behavioral characteristics of L seem similar to those of the gifted in other general fields. He was found to have failed in his interpersonal relationship with his peers and formed a negative concept due to the asynchrony which shows the inconsistency between the intelligent capacity(mental age) and physical function(age of living). Like what the gifted experience in general, he came to encounter problems in intellectual and psychological aspect, like the dropping test scores in his first school year and psychological problems, such as the alienation, disconnection, loneliness, depression, and so forth. Fortunately, L who used to dislike going to school and had negative attitude, was starting to have a higher self confidence and display less distraction and resistant behavior, with the affection and support of home room teacher. Identifying children with real gift in fine art and developing them into an precious human resource is a very valuable thing both at national and individual level. We must be interested in and enthusiastic about identifying them and developing them into a talent for country. At least, we must help them be ready to demonstrate their capability to their best ability and grow into healthy social members. At this time, we must provide them with comprehensive educational services and programs to help them overcome the problems or difficulties in learning while promoting their intellectual, emotional and social development.
