Vision is an important sense to provide rich information and meet emotional needs in a human environment. Especially in the modern visual environment that s more stimulating and involves more senses, information has expanded both in quantity and quality, which is reflected in visual culture, a new culture paradigm. Visual culture is a term that embraces the overall social domains including art, design, industry, culture and electronic media where vision dominates over other senses. Living in such visual culture, young children need to adapt and grow into a member of society, understand and interpret visual images and messages they come across in every sector, and use their individual judgments for reinterpretation. For all those, education to promote the understanding of visual culture is required. Among the various elements of visual environment, the modern media affect young children s thoughts, ideas and actions in every aspect of daily life through visuality to cause tactual reactions. Considering that young children compose knowledge through sensual and practical experiences, one can expect diverse educational effects from the application of the modern media to the education of visual culture understanding. By using the modern media, which allows young children to communicate as future subjects of culture, in a voluntary and autonomous manner, we can provide them with opportunities to experience a cultural flow in everyday life and take active part in culture creation.
