개성화의 관점에서 시 읽기 방법 연구

Study on the Method of Reading Poetry from the Point of View of Individuation

이 논문은 분석심리학의 핵심이론인 개성화의 관점에서 시 읽기 방법론을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 필자는 대학에서 현대시강독 강의 중 학생들이 시가 어렵다고 생각하는 까닭에 대해 고심했다. 현행 교과서 위주의 시 읽기와 방법만으로는 교과서 밖의 시를 이해하는 데 어려움을 겪는 것도 어제 오늘 일이 아니다. 여기서 문제점은 크게 세 가지다. 첫째, 현 중ㆍ고등학교 교육과정에서 교과서에 수록된 시 즉, 정전이라 규정되는 텍스트에서 객관식 답안을 요구하는 교육방법의 문제 둘째, 시가 언어로 형상화된 무의식과 적극적 상상의 산물 즉, 예술이라는 관점보다는 이성적ㆍ사회적 측면에서 윤리ㆍ도덕 교과의 그것과 별반 다를 바 없이 옳고 그름 즉, 이분법적 사고를 지향한다는 점. 셋째, 현대시에 형상화된 시적 주체를 서술적ㆍ사전적 차원에 한정하여 해석하는 것이 그것이다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 시에 형상화된 시적 주체를 사회적ㆍ의식적 측면은 물론 분석심리학에서 말하는 개인적ㆍ무의식적 측면에서 인간의 본성과 본질을 심층적으로 읽어낼 필요가 있다. 본고에서 김수영과 황병승의 시를 텍스트로 선정한 까닭은 공통적으로 사회적ㆍ의식적 측면에서 문제를 제기하는 시적 주체가 ‘동시성’을 가지고 형상화되었기 때문이다. 특히 시적 주체의 원형으로서 ‘어린이 원형’이나 ‘모성 원형’을 통해 ‘그림자’를 형상화하는 특징이 포착되었다.

This study aims to propose the methodology of reading poetry from the perspective of individualization, the core theory of analytic psychology. The author worried about the reason why students found poetry difficult while I was giving a lecture on “Reading Modern Poetry” in a university. They have had difficulty in understanding poetry outside the textbooks only with the current textbook-driven reading poetry and method. Here, the problems are divided broadly into three as follows: First, there is a problem of the teaching method asking for answers to multiple choice questions in the poetry contained in the textbooks of the current curricula of middle school and high school, that is, the texts, which are provided as the canon. Second, there is an orientation to right and wrong, in other words, dichotomous thinking, no different to that of ethics and moral studies from rational and social aspects, rather than the perspective of the poetry as a product of unconsciousness and active imagination embodied in poetic language, that is, art. Third, there is an interpretation of the poetic subjects embodied in modern poetry limited to descriptive and lexical dimensions. In order to solve this problem, it is necessary to read the poetic subjects embodied in poetry from personal and unconscious aspects in analytic psychology as well as social and conscious aspects concerning the essence and nature of mankind in depth. This study selected Kim Su-young’s poetry and Hwang Byung-seung’s poetry as texts because they commonly embodied poetic subjects that raised questions from social and conscious aspects with ‘simultaneity.’ Especially, it was noted that there was a characteristic that ‘shadow’ was embodied through ‘the archetype of a child’ or ‘the archetype of a mother’ as the archetypes of the poetic subjects.
