This study was conducted to provide basic data on Bowen therapy, and to assess the effects of Bowen therapy on cervicodynia among females with neck pain over the course of three months. This study focused on the utilization of Bowen therapy with 18 female hair stylists aged 20 to 50. The level of pain was measured with VAS (Visual Analog Scale) at pre and post treatment. The Mean level of pain was 3.83 at pre-treatment, 4.11 at 1-2 treatments, 3.28 after 3-4 treatments, 2.56 after 5-6 treatments. 1.78 point after 7-8 treatments, and 0.67 after 9-10 treatments. There were significant decreases according to the length of treatment (p<0.01). There were no significant differences by age, marriage status, work sector, work hours, causes of pain, another pre-treatment trial and/or type of another pre-treatment. Based on the results above, Bowen therapy had a positive effect on cervicodynia. Therefore, it may be considered that Bowen therapy can be applied to decrease neck pain. This study will provide basic data for research on Bowen therapy.
