This study investigates the impacts of tobacco consumption and manufacturing on the environment. Specifically, we examine current practices and strategies, which address tobacco waste - against a global backdrop of tobacco cultivation, consumption and production. Given the junction of external practices and governmental decisions as a goal in tobacco control, public policy theory becomes important in our examination of how strategies to address the environmental impacts of tobacco production waste can be aligned with appropriate public policy approaches. Such theory supports the principle that government, as the most effective advocate for measures to protect the global citizen and environment, should promote public policies, which seek to safeguard both.
