부모기 전이 부부의 부부갈등이 결혼만족도의 변화에 미치는 영향

The effect of marital conflict on the change of marital satisfaction among married couples during the transition to parenthood

본 연구는 첫 자녀 출산을 통해 부모기 전이를 경험한 부부인 남편과 아내 각각의 부부갈등이 부모기 전이 1년 동안의 결혼만족도 변화에 미치는 영향을 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 한국아동패널 1-2차(2008년-2009년) 자료를 사용하였으며, 2008년에 첫 자녀 출산을 통해 부모기 전이를 경험한 602쌍의 부부(남편 602명, 아내 602명)를 연구대상으로 삼았다. 종속변수는 2차년도의 결혼만족도이며, 독립변수는 1차년도에 조사된 부부갈등이다. 또한 부모기 전이 1년 동안 발생한 결혼만족도의 변화를 연구하기 위해 시차내생변수로서 1차년도에 측정된 결혼만족도를 모형에 투입하여 통제하였다. 부부인 남편과 아내 각각의 종속변수인 결혼만족도에 대한 오차항의 상호상관을 고려하기 위해 Seemingly Unrelated Regression을 활용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과 아내가 보고한 부부갈등과 남편이 보고한 부부갈등은 아내의 결혼만족도 변화에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 아내가 보고한 부부갈등과 남편이 보고한 부부갈등은 남편의 결혼만족도 변화에는 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과는 부부갈등을 다루는 부부의 상호작용방식에 대한 개입을 통해 부모기 전이기에 아내와 남편의 결혼만족도 하락을 직간접적으로 예방할 수 있다는 가능성을 시사한다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of marital conflict on the change of marital satisfaction during the transition to parenthood. The first (in 2008) and the second(in 2009) Panel Study on Korean Children data were used. Sample was 602 married couples who delivered the first child in 2008. Dependent variable was marital satisfaction in 2009. Independent variable was marital conflict in 2008. In order to test the effect on the change of marital satisfaction, marital satisfaction in 2008 was included in the model as a lagged variable. Seemingly Unrelated Regression was analyzed for considering interdependency between husbands and wives within couples. Results showed that marital conflict reported by wives and husbands had effects on the change of marital satisfaction among wives. However, those did not have effects on the change of marital satisfaction among husbands. It implies that intervention programs about conflict management strategies may directly/indirectly help married couples in transition to parenthood to enhance their marital quality.
