범세계적으로 학습성과의 측정을 통한 교육의 질 점검 및 개선이 강조되고 있으며 이에 따라 국제 공통의 학습척도 개발 방안이 활발히 논의되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 국제 학습척도 개발을 위한 국제 공동연의 준비 단계에서 개발된 수학 학습척도 시안의 우리나라 적용 가능성을 점검함으로써, 언어, 문화, 교육적 환경이 상이한 국가들에 공통적으로 적용할 수 있는 국제 수학 학습척도의 개발 가능성을 검토하였다. 연구 결과 수학 학습척도 시안에서의 능력 발달 단계 간 위계는 대체로 적절한 것으로 판단되나 6단계와 7단계의 능력특성 구분은 다소 명확하지 않으며, 발달 단계별 능력 특성에서 일부 요소들은 개별 국가에 적용할 때 수정이 필요한 것으로 판단되었다. 또한 국제 공통문항풀에서 추출한 문항들을 우리나라 학생들에게 실시하고 경험적으로 추정한 난이도와 학습척도 시안에서 설정한 난이도의 관련성을 검토한 결과, 두 난이도 간의 상관은 0.72로 비교적 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 학습척도 시안에서 설정한 능력 단계 및 각 능력 단계에 속하는 문항 분류도 일부 문항을 제외하고 대체로 타당한 것으로 나타났다.
The present study aims to validate the draft learning metric for mathematics that has been developed by the Australian Council for Educational Research(ACER). To validate the draft learning metric, we first developed mathematics tests which were composed of a Phase I item pool owned by ACER and implemented the tests to 6th grade students in Korea. Then we examined the validity of draft learning metrics both qualitatively and quantitatively. Content experts in Korea reviewed the presented proficiency descriptions of each achievement band and found that the hierarchy of bands is also applicable in Korea. Next, we explored the consistency between the difficulty of items established by contents experts in Phase I item pool and item difficulty estimated based on empirical data collected in Korea. Overall, there was relatively high consistency between the two item difficulties and significant differences were seen in only a few items. In conclusion, the draft learning metric is currently in the developmental stage and need to further validation.
