A Lesson Tried to Resemble Reality and Connect with World

이 글은 2015년 12월 16일 제주 I 초등학교에서 이 교사가 2학년 아이들과 함께 햄버거 커넥션 게임을 하며 지구촌 환경 문제를 고민했던 수업을 성찰한 것이다. 아이들은 브라질 모둠과 맥도날드 모둠으로 나누어 게임을 하면서 열대 우림을 파괴하는 현실을 가상으로 체험하였다. 지구촌 환경 문제를 인식하고 해결하려고 했던 이 수업은 2학년 아이들의 수준들을 감안하여 유쾌하고 진지하게 환경문제를 고민하려 했던 수업이라 볼 수 있다. 이 수업을 통해서 몇 가지 점을 성찰할 수 있었다. 첫째, 시뮬레이션 게임은 왜곡 없이 현실을 보다 공정하게 재현해야 한다. 둘째, 설명 중심 인과관계를 중심으로 글로벌 관계 속의 요소들을 꼼꼼한관계 로 파악해야 한다. 셋째, 지속가능한 수업은 대상으로 존재하는 것이 아니라 수업에 관계하는 사람들의 생활방식으로 가능하다. 아이들이 시뮬레이션에만 머물지 않고 현실에서도 깨어있는 세계 시민으로 자라주기를 기대한다.

This aims to reflect on a lesson of Global Environmental Problem which teacher Y has performed with his 2nd graders of I elementary school in Jeju-si. The children have experienced in destroying a tropical rain forest virtually while playing a simulation game, in which two group, Brazil group and McDonald group have to compete for producing cows and hamburgers respectively. The instruction can be taken as a pleasant and serious one in that young children have tried to identify and solve a global environmental problems. This lesson made me reflect on some points. First, reality should be represented fairly without distortions in a simulation game. Second, factors of global connection have to be realized as detailed connection on the basis of a explicative causal relationship. Third, a sustainable instruction is guaranteed by a lifestyle of participants implicated in the one. The children are expected to grow as a informed global citizen in not simulation but reality.
