The Effect of Korea－ASEAN Free Trade Agreement to Korea s Trade Volume

본 연구는 한국－ASEAN 자유무역협정(FTA) 체결이 한국의 교역수준에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 하였으며, 이를 위해 1990년부터 2010년까지의 세계 41개국 불균형 패널자료를 활용한 실증분석을 실시하였다. 이러한 과정에서 중력모형을 사용한 실증분석 결과, 경제규모 및 1인당 소득의 증가, 인구밀 도의 증가가 한국의 교역수준에 통계적으로 유의한 양(＋)의 영향을 미치는 반면, 교역국가 간의 거리증가 및 물적자본 증가는 한국의 교역수준에 통계적으로 유의한 음(－)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 한국－ASEAN FTA 체결을 고려하기 위해 가변수를 사용한 실증분석 결과 통계적으로 유의한 양 (＋)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나, ASEAN국가와의 FTA체결에 따른 무역창출효과로 인하여 한국의 교역수준이 증가하였음을 알 수 있었다.

This study examines the effect of Korea－ASEAN Free Trade Agreement to Korea’s trade volume using unbalanced panel data on 41 countries over the period 1990～2010. According to the result of analysis using Gravity model, increasing scale of economy, income per capita, and population density has statistically significant and positive impacts on Korea’s trade volume. However, increasing distance between two trading partners and physical capital has statistically significant and negative impacts on Korea’s trade volume. Indeed, according to the result of analysis using dummy variable for considering effect of Korea－ASEAN Free Trade Agreement, we find that the contract of Korea－ASEAN Free Trade Agreement affects to increase Korea’s trade volume by causing trade creation effect.
