경제 불황에서 텍사스 병원의 고정 자산 투자 변화

Trends in the Fixed Asset Investment of Texas Hospitals during a Financial Crisis

최근 경제 불황은 미국 경제에 커다란 영향을 미쳤다. 하지만, 이러한 경제 불황이 병원의 자산 투자에 어떤 영향을 미쳤는지는 연구가 되지 않았다. 따라서, 이 연구는 병원 고정 자산의 구조를 경제 불황의 전, 후로 비교 분석 하고자 한다. 이 연구는 2006부터 2010까지 5년간의 미국 텍사스 병원 데이터를 사용했다. 이 연구는 2008년의 미국 경제 불황에도 불구하고, 병원들은 고정 자산 투자를 늘린 것을 발견했고, 영리 병원과 비영리 병원간에 고정 자산의 투자 변화가 다르다는 것도 발견했다. 예를 들면, 비영리 병원은 경제 불황에도 불구하고 고정 자산을 늘린 반면, 영리 병원은 고정 자산 투자에 변화가 없었다.

The recent financial crises affected the US economy. However, how this financial crisis affected the asset investment trend in hospitals has not draw much attention from researchers. This study describes and analyzes the fixed asset investment structure across hospital ownership two years before and after a financial crisis using Texas hospitals data from 2006 to 2010. The finding shows that Hospitals increased fixed asset investment after financial depression in 2008. Also, we found that hospitals’ asset investment differs significantly by hospital ownership. Not-for-profit and government hospitals increased fixed assets after the financial crisis, while for-profit hospitals did not change their asset investment plan responding to financial crisis.
