조선시대 회화 속 은일사상이 반영된 꽃 그림 연구

A Study on Floral Painting Reflecting Un-il Philosophy in the Paintings of Joseon Period - Focused on Developing Art Work-

연구 목적은 은일사상이 담긴 조선시대 회화를 연구하여 꽃을 소재로 한 아트워크를 제작하는데 있다. 연구내용 및 방법으로는 조선시대 회화에 표현된 은일사상과 그 시대적 배경을 문헌, 선행연구 및 인터넷 자료를 참고하여 연구하고, 은일사상이 반영된 꽃 그림을 동양화기법으로 제작하였다. 은일사상은 자연의 이치에 순응함으로써 인간의 걱정 근심을 해소할 수 있다는 노장사상에서 비롯되었으며, 특히 조선시대 중, 후기에 정치, 사회가 혼탁하였을 때 선비들에 의해 추구되었다. 이들은 충절을 지키는 것을 의롭게 생각하였고, 자연의 섭리 속에서 심신을 수련하면서 후일의 정사를 도모하였다. 이들의 이러한 심경은 당시의 산수·화훼화에 그대로 표현되었다. 본 연구자는 현대사회의 혼탁함과 과다한 경쟁 및 스트레스에서 벗어나 각자가 자연이치의 깨달음을 통해 마음의 평화를 찾으며, 깨끗하고 정직한 사회의 실현을 현대 속의 은일사상으로 해석하고, 이를 작업 컨셉으로 정하였다. 테마는 “꽃을 통한 자연”이며, 한국전통의 미적 감성과 상징성이 담긴 모란, 목련, 나비를 모티프로 한 5점의 아트워크를 제작하였다. 본 연구의 결과로는, 첫째, 한국 전통 모티프와 한국화 기법을 사용하여 한국 정신과 고유미가 담긴 아트워크를 제작하였다. 둘째, 전통한지 위에 백색 안료를 사용하여 자연미가 담긴 자연친화적인 꽃 그림을 제작하였다. 그 결과로 자연의 섭리에 순응하여 삶의 지혜를 얻을 수 있도록 의도한, 현대사회에 필요한 은일적인 사상을 꽃 그림에 반영할 수 있었다.

The purpose of the study is to develop floral paintings that express Eun-il philosophy contained in the Korean paintings of Joseon period. I researched on Eun-il philosophy that was expressed through the landscape and floral paintings of the second half of Joseon period, based on the various literatures and web sites. Then, I developed 5 floral art works in Korean painting style that reflected Eun-il thought. Eun-il philosophy is basically based on Taoism. In Taoism, one must be united with nature to be relieved of all the anxiety and tension gotten from the world affairs. And this was pursued by the Joseon scholars when the rivalry between factions reached its peak in the middle of Joseon period. While being loyal to the country and the king, they strived hard to keep their mind and body fit and be in harmony with the natural law for the future endeavors. And they imbued their ideas of Eun-il thought in their paintings of landscape and flowers. Based on the theoretical research, I have developed 5 floral paintings reflecting the contemporary Eun-il thought. It was to honor the clean and honest society, and be in harmony with nature to relieve of all the stresses from the competitive and unstable contemporary society. I have chosen peony, magnolia and butterfly as motifs for the theme of “the Nature seen through Flowers”, since they contain the traditional Korean aesthetics and symbols. As for color and technique, I painted with white pigment using layering technique on the natural Korean rice paper to impart the natural beauty through my work. As result, I was able to create eco-friendly art works that have the Korean aesthetics and at the same time to offer the spiritual and physical comfort and calmness, and to be charged with renewed energy and wisdom for tomorrow. And, I was able to create floral paintings imbued with the contemporary Eun-il thought as I had intended.
