노인교육 참여가 생성감과 자아통합감에 미치는 영향

Effects of the elderly education on generativity and ego-integrity

본 연구에서는 노인종합복지관을 이용하는 노인들을 대상으로 노인교육 참여집단과 비참여집단의 생성감과 자아통합감을 비교하고, 노인교육 참여여부가 생성감과 자아통합감에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 충남 서부지역에 거주하는 60세 이상 노인들 중 노인교육 참여집단 212명, 비참여집단 209명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 분석을 통해 나타난 주요결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 노인교육 참여집단이 비참여집단보다 개인적 생성감, 공동체적 생성감, 자아통합감 모두 높게 나타났다. 또 다변량분산분석(MANOVA) 결과, 노인교육 참여여부는 개인적 생성감과 공동체적 생성감, 그리고 특히 자아통합감에 중요한 영향요인이었다. 둘째, 생성감과 자아통합감에 영향을 미치는 요인은 무엇인지를 알아보기 위하여 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 먼저 개인적 생성감에 대한 회귀분석 결과, 교육수준, 동거형태, 종교, 생활수준, 건강수준, 그리고 노인교육 참여여부가 유의한 영향요인으로 나타났으며, 이들 변수의 설명력은 33.0%였다. 다음으로 공동체적 생성감에서는 성별, 교육수준, 종교, 생활수준, 건강수준, 노인교육 참여여부가 유의미한 영향요인으로, 설명력은 37.3%였다. 끝으로 노년기의 최종적 발달과업인 자아통합감에서는 생활수준, 노인교육 참여여부, 그리고 생성감이 유의미한 영향요인으로 설명력은 50.9%였다. 이러한 결과에 근거하여 노인교육 활성화 및 후속연구를 위한 제언을 덧붙였다.

The purpose of this research is to compare generativity and ego-integrity between participants and non-participants in the elderly education and to examine the effects of elderly education participation on generativity and ego-integrity. The survey was conducted for 212 participants and 209 non-participants over 60 in West Chungcheong Provice. The results of this study were as follows: ① The participants showed higher agentive generativity, communal generativity, and ego-integrity than the non-participants. From the MANOVA, it appeared that participation in the elderly education was significant influencing factor on agentive generativity, communal generativity, and especially ego-integrity. ② As a result of hierarchical regression analysis, education level, living arrangement, religion, standard of living, health level, and participation in the elderly education were significantly influencing factors of agentive generativity. ③ Sex, education level, religion, standard of living, health level, and participation in the elderly education were significantly influencing factors of communal generativity. ④ Standard of living, participation in the elderly education, and level of generativity were significantly influencing factors of ego-integrity. Some suggestions were made based on the results of above research.
