보컬 디렉터의 역할과 방법에 관한 연구

A Study on Role and Method of Vocal-Director

음악제작 방식의 전문화과정중 대표적인 것이 바로 프로듀서이다. 이는 책임자를 두어 음반을 제작하는 방식으로 프로듀서는 곡 선정에서부터 음악 편곡 등 전 분야를 총지휘하는 지휘관 역할을 하게 된다. 프로듀서와 더불어 중요한 역할을 하는 것이 보컬디렉터이다. 보컬 디렉터는 녹음작업에 있어 보컬부분만을 전담하는 전문가이다. 따라서 원곡의 해석에 충실하여 가수가 발휘할 수 있는 최대한의 완성품을 만들어 내는 것이 보컬디렉터의 역할인데 그동안 보컬디렉터의 영역은 주로 녹음실에서의 작업에 국한되었다. 사실 보컬디렉터는 가수가 소리를 만들어가는 연습 과정에서부터 함께 훈련해야 하는데 녹음과정에만 참여하다보니 목소리에 새로운 변화를 만들어내기가 어려운 한계가 있었다. 본인만의 개성이 생명인 대중가수의 경우 개성의 창출은 중요한 과제이며, 따라서 개성을 만들어 내기 위한 사전 훈련부터 보컬디렉터의 역할은 시작되어야 할 것이다. 본 연구는 보컬디렉터의 역할과 가장 바람직한 보컬디렉팅 방법에 대해 연구해 보도록 하겠다.

Producing is the most typical way of popular-music making method. It means producer acts as a commander for music making. Music producer choose songs to record and arrange music and so on. With the producer vocal-director also plays an important role too. The role of the vocal-director means to arrange vocal part for the singer during the recording procedure. Therefore the vocal -director s mission is to make the music best for the singer by interpreting score right. Until now, the domain of the vocal trainer is limited to work in recording studio work. Vocal-director should cooperate with singer from the training period. Actually in the recording field vocal-director has confronted with limits to make the singer to find its new variation of voice. Making its own identity is the most important thing for popular singers. So the vocal-director should work together with the singer for making its own identity from the pre-training period . In this study, I researched the role of vocal director and the method of vocal-directing.
