Conflicts among religious groups are a potential source of social issue, since religious plurarity is prevailed in Korea. Identifying the stereotypes among the three largest religious group would be helpful to improve religious harmony among different religious group. Three hundred and eighty one respondants enrolling at Hoseo University were sampled and asked to chose stereotypic merits and demerits of Protestants, Buddists, and Catholics given 32 traits, which could refer religious groups. Protestants’ merits were chosen as peaceful, devotedness, active, sociable, and sincere and their demerits were chosen as demanding, clamorous, exclusive, and weak traditional. Buddist’s merits were chosen as quite, generous, picious, and peaceful and their demerits were chosen as conservative, exclusiveness, passive, and idolism. Catholics’ merits were chosen as quite, picious, peaceful, devotedness, and openess and their demerits were chosen as conservative, passive, political, and idolism. Other related questions such as religious consitency between family, the degree of conflicts, the forecasting of three religious power after 10 years, favoritness toward various religious groups, and religious activity were also discussed.
