중국 시청자의 한국 드라마 시청동기 연구: 드라마 <별에서 온 그대>를 중심으로

A Study on Chinese Viewers Motivation for Watching Korean Dramas: Focused on the Drama My Love from Another Star

본 연구는 한국 드라마에 대한 중국 시청자들의 시청동기와 중국에서 큰 성공을 거둔 드라마 <별에서 온 그대>에 대한 시청동기를 조사한다. 또한 드라마 <별에서 온 그대>에 대한 중국 시청자들의 시청동기와 한국 시청자들의 시청동기를 비교한다. 이를 통해 향후 중국 시장에 서의 한국 드라마 시청률 향상 방안에 대해 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 온라인 설문조사를 통해 수집된 자료를 바탕으로 한 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중국 시청자들의 한국 드라마 시청동기는 ‘드라마 구성에 대한 선호’, ‘감정이입 및간접경험’, ‘사회교류’, ‘드라마 제작자에 대한 관심’, ‘여가 및 습관’의 다섯 가지 요인이다. 둘째, 중국 시청자들의 드라마 <별에서 온 그대>에 대한 시청동기는 ‘드라마 구성에 대한 선호’, ‘정보획득’, ‘여가 및 습관’, ‘화제성’, ‘드라마 제작자에 대한 관심’의 다섯 가지 요인으로 나타 난다. 셋째, 한국 시청자들의 <별에서 온 그대>에 대한 시청동기는 ‘판타지적 경험’, ‘드라마 구성에 대한 선호’, ‘정보획득’, ‘드라마 제작자에 대한 관심’의 네 가지 요인으로 구성된다. 한국과 중국의 시청자들이 <별에서 온 그대>를 시청하는 공통적인 동기로는 ‘드라마 구성에 대한 선호’, ‘정보획득’ 과 ‘드라마 제작자에 대한 관심’으로 나타난다.

This study examines Chinese viewers’ motivations for watching Korean dramas. In particular, this study analyzes the differences in motivations of Chinese and Korean audiences for viewing the drama My Love from Another Star. This study performed a statistical analysis on data collected through an on-line survey of individuals watching Korean dramas that found five factors motivating Chinese viewers: first, a preference for the organization of the drama; second, arousal of empathy and indirect experience; third, social interchange; fourth, interest about the drama producer; and fifth, spare time and habit. For the drama My Love from Another Star in particular, the five factors for Chinese viewers were, in order, preference for the organization of the drama; acquisition of information; spare time and habit; the issues handled; and interest about the drama producer. For Korean viewers watching My Love from Another Star, the four leading factors were, in descending order, fantastic experience; the preference for the organization of the drama; acquisition of information; and interest about the drama producer. In other words, the common reasons that both Korean and Chinese viewers watch the drama My Love from Another Star was the preference for the organization of the drama and interest in the producer.
