This study aims to explore the perceptions of two different groups of students, from multi-cultural families(MFs) and Korean families(KFs), about the issues of English teaching and learning, contents, and methods along with their wishes related to the English classes, and to find out some implications for their English learning. One hundred and twelve elementary school students from MFs and 114 students from KFs in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do participated in the study. Likert scale survey questions were developed and implemented to collect data using three interview questions. The SPSS version 22.0 was administered to compute the collected data. The results from the data are as follows: First, the students from MFs did not feel that they lacked English proficiency. But they felt themselves significantly lower than the those from KFs in terms of speaking and writing. Second, the students from MFs felt they struggled in English classes more than those from KFs. The interest in English of the students from MFs was lower than those from KFs. Third, the students from MFs had the same difficulties in understanding English teacher’s explanations as those from KFs felt. Finally, both the students from MFs and those from KFs did not want extra lessons for enhancing their four English skills, grammar, and comprehension of English stories. Based on the results some implications and suggestions are provided for the studies and practice in the future.
