The aim of the present study was to examine what topics have been studied sofar in terms of English camps, who participated in the studies, what study methods have been used; and also to find out the results of the study themes and messages delivered to foreign or second language learning. 28 related studies were analyzed; and as a result, three major themes emerged: 1) Evaluation of the camp programs; 2) Effects of the camp experiences on other elements; and 3) Pedagogy in the program. The participants who evaluated the programs in 11 studies showed a positive reaction to the English camps. 13 studies investigated the effects of the camp experiences on other aspects (cognitive domains, affective domains, and learning strategies); and the results of comparison between pre-program and post-program demonstrated positive effects on these elements. Lastly, pedagogy in theprogram provided multiple messages to NESTs, based on what teacher knowledge they should be equipped with, how they deliver their lessons in order to maximize students’ learning, and what teaching strategies need to be utilized for meaningful learning. These multiple messages will be discussed in the implications section.
