The purpose of this paper is to investigate the double suppression and distorted motherhood of black women under slavery in Toni Morrison s Beloved. Morrison insists on the resistance to the ideology and contradiction under the white. she emphasizes that it is deeply remembered and kept like This is not a story to pass on. This work is literarily worth to concern about the double suppression and distorted motherhood of the black women under the past history of slavery. Under the past special circumstances, the black slave women reproduce not to be mothering as mother. Morrison suggests that the proper motherhood is not a possessive form of motherhood stemming from the confusion of the self but healthy motherhood, which helps lead to a better future. Morrison emphasizes that the black and white must both go through reconciliation, forgiveness, and coexistence in order to lead a productive life.
