유아기 자녀 어머니의 Filial Therapy 과정 이야기나누기 시간의 경험:

Experiences in story discussion activities of Filial Therapy for mothers with young children: From symbolic interactionism perspective

본 연구는 모자관계에 어려움을 가진 유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니를 대상으로 한 Filial Therapy 과정에서, 어머니들이 이야기나누기 시간에 공유한 경험이 상징적 상호작용론적 관점에서 어떤 의미를 가지는지 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 프로그램 전 과정 동안 어머니가 매회기 이야기나누기 시간에 치료사나 다른 어머니와 함께 나누었던 이야기 내용을 그 자리에서 모두 기록하고 회기 종료 후 바로 보완하였다. 자료 분석 결과, 이야기나누기 시간의 의미는 크게 ‘자기 문제 풀어놓기: 가족과 생각 차이로 양육이 힘들어요’ , ‘자신의 놀이상호작용 행동 바라보기: 내가 아이와 제대로 못 놀았어요’, ‘변화를 향해 함 께 나아가기: 하나의 공동체가 되어 서로 돕고 배워요’로 범주화 되었다. 따라서 FT 과정 이야기나누기 시간은 어머니들에게 자기문제의 개방, 잘못된 놀이상호작용 행동의 깨달음과 나아가 서로에게 배우고 돕는 학습공동체 경험의 의미를 가지게 함을 알 수 있었다. 어머니들에게 이야기나누기 시간의 경험이 주는 의미를 바탕으로 이러한 의미를 가져오게 된 FT의 특징이 부모의 인식과 태도 변화를 도모하는 부모교육과 공동체 기반의 양육문제 해결 방안에 주는 시사점을 논의하였다.

This study, by focusing on conversational experiences mothers experienced in the story discussion activities of Filial Therapy for mothers who had relational difficulties with their young children, aimed to understand what meanings the experiences had on mothers in the perspective of symbolic interactionism. All the conversations mothers had with the therapist or other mothers during the program were transcribed for analysis. The analysis results showed that the meanings of the experiences was largely categorized into “talking about their struggles: I have a hard time because my child-rearing attitude is different than those of my family members,” “realizing wrong play interactive behaviors: I cannot believe I did that to my child,” and “being involved in a community: learning from and helping one another.” Thus, we were able to see that the story discussion activities of the FT program helped mothers with children in their early childhood speak about their problems, realize wrong play interactive behaviors, and experience a community where they could learn from and help one another. The implications for parent education programs were discussed on basis of the meanings of symbolic interactive experiences.
