Differences in Mental Health and Work-Life Time Conflicts by the Work Status

The purpose of this study is to look into the basic differences in mental health such as depressive symptoms and suicidal impulse, and work-life time conflicts by the work status. The subjects of this study are 1,057 workers out of a national survey conducted in 2015. This study shows that the most vulnerable workers in terms of seriousness of mental health and work-life time conflicts are non-waged self-employed workers, even worse than nonstandard workers: they have more often felt depressive symptoms and suicidal impulse as well as work-life time conflicts. Based on the findings, diverse measures are necessary for alleviate the bad conditions of mental health and work-life time conflicts for self-employed workers in a broader context of workers’ welfare.
