성인 문해교육 연구의 담론 지형

The Discourse Configuration of Adult Literacy Education Studies

‘문해’는 사회적·역사적·문화적 개념으로 더 이상 평생교육학의 독점적 개념이 아니다. 이런 문제의식에 따라 본 연구는 국내에서 이루어진 성인 문해교육 연구의 지형을 분석하는 것을 목적으로, 의미연결망분석(Semantic Network Analysis)의 방법을 활용하여 국내 학술지에 발표된 논문 주제들이 갖는 구조적 특성, 구조적 위상의 변화, 그리고 주요 관련 용어들(문해, 문식성, 리터러시 등)을 중심으로 한 연결망의 구조적 특성을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 4개의 학술 정보 사이트에서 논문과 저자가 등록한 주제어를 수집하여, 300편의 논문에서 추출한 주제어 167개를 대상으로 전체 연결망 구조와 연결망의 시기별 변화를 분석하였으며, 문해 관련 주요 용어의 자아중심연결망분석을 실시하였다. 성인 문해교육 연구는 다양한 문해 실천들과 연결된 하나의 복잡한 담론 체계를 형성하고 있었고, 이 담론 체계는 고유한 문해 실천들과 연결된 하위 담론 체계로 구성되어 있었다. 또한 관련 하위 담론들 사이의 역학관계속에서 여전히 분화 중인 역동적 체계였다. 이런 논의 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구는 문해교육 연구 영역의 확장, 메타 수준의 연구 수행, 기존 연구 영역의 심화, 비판적 담론의 확장 등 평생교육 관점에서 필요한 성인 문해교육 연구 과제들을 제안하였다.

Literacy is not an exclusive topic of lifelong education studies but a social, historical and cultural concept. The purpose of this research, which has been conducted with this critique in mind, is to analyse the discourse configuration of adult literacy education studies with the ‘Semantic Network Analysis’ method on key words in related articles published in the academic journals of South Korea. To do this, we collected 167 key words from 300 articles registered in four academic information sites and analyzed the whole network structure, the change in time, and ego-centered networks of main terms related to literacy. We then discussed as follows. First, the discourse configuration of adult literacy studies forms a complex discourse system associated with a variety of literacy practices. Second, this system has sub-systems connected with their own specific literacy practices. Third, this system is also a dynamic discourse system still evolving in the dynamics among related discourses. On the basis of these discussions, we proposed to extend the research area, to conduct meta-level research, to deepen existing studies, and to expand interests in critical discourse to challenge dult literacy education studies from a lifelong education perspective.
