The new Camellia sinensis L. variety, ‘Borim’, was selected from 2,270 clones of the tea plant clone garden in the TEA Research Institute of Jeonnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services. This variety was selected to develop a superior variety for high productivity and disease (insect) resistance from 2005~2015. We evaluated the clones in therms of the characteristics of their leaves, nutrient components, and yield. ‘Borim’ was finally selected from four regional trials conducted from 2011~2015. The weight of 100 buds of ‘Borim’ was better than that of the control cultivar ‘Chamnok’. ‘Borim’ was observed to be more resistant to cold and disease than the control. The nutrient component contents of ‘Borim’ viz. the total nitrogen, total amino acid, caffeine and catechin contents, were 5.82%, 3,090 mg/100 g, 3.34% and 10.05%, respectively
