미국 실과교육의 최신 동향 분석

New Trends of Practical Arts Education in USA

The purposes of the study were to analyse the curriculum related Practical Arts Education in USA, to compare with Practical Arts curriculum in Korea, and to suggest for new direction of Practical Arts Education in Korea. The study was carried out through analysis of materials related Practical Arts Education in 5 states (Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey) and Korea. Education related Practical Arts in USA has generally managed through science, technology, health, vocational education etc, composed educational contents among subjects systematically, managed each subjects related Practical Arts actively. Also, Practical Arts Education in Korea has managed educational contents that contain home economics, technology, agricultural life science, environment, computer, career etc. Based on the results of the study, the following recommendations were made for new direction of Practical Arts Education in Korea ; 1) Practical Arts Education should reinforce curriculum of school and class standard rather than national standard, be managed actively. 2) Educational contents related Practical Arts should compose systematically for curriculum management among grades. 3) Elementary school should secure various teaching-learning methods and materials for substantiality of Practical Arts Education, serve students experience learning personally.
