Development of a Future-Oriented Practical Arts Education Subjects based on the High-Technology Fields

The purpose of this study was to propose the development the future-oriented Practical Arts education contents based on the high technology fields consisted of IT, BT, NT, ET, ST and CT. The Practical Arts education subjects is in need of reorganizing extensively to have creative and logical thinking power of elementary school pupils in the future society characterized as information, globalization and diversity. This study was conducted by analysis of the 7th Practical Arts and literatures of high-technologies. The major results acquired from this study were as follows: First, the Practical Arts education should be constituted with the contents which harmonize adequately among the past, the current and the future society as well as the integrated operation plan among the fields to prepare new convergence time. Second, the Practical Arts education as applied science has the discriminative characteristic against another subjects and should be born again with the central subject among the elementary school subjects which can be inspired the rational conduct, thinking, attitudes, responsibility and civil awareness to adapt in the future society. Third, opening the new time by rapid development of the fields such as IT, BT and NT in the 21st century, the contents about high-technology fields should be included necessarily to prepare for the future to the elementary school pupils. Fourth, the plan that grafts the BT contents in elementary education should consider the integrated educational method in the Practical Arts as well as Science, Korean Language and Morality, Social subject like the environmental education in order to understand wide contents in the elementary school pupils. And, the education must be accomplished by regarding contents in order to have an interest using the various education techniques than deliver the knowledge.
