에디슨의 발명영재성 요인

The Inventively Giftedness Constructs of Thomas Edison

이 연구는 에디슨의 발명영재성 요인을 구명하기 위해서 수행되었다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해서 질적 연구법으로서 내용분석법이 적용되었으며, 발명가로서 에디슨의 삶을 조명한 도서 4권과 논문 1종을 중점적으로 분석하였다. 내용분석의 틀은 영재성을 인지적 능력, 정의적 특성, 사회적 특성의 세 가지로 구분하는 접근을 따랐다. 이 연구에서 도출한 에디슨의 발명영재성 요인은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인지적 능력 요인으로서 1) 폭넓은 지식 습득 능력, 2) 관찰 능력, 3) 독창적 사고 능력, 4) 상상력, 5) 응용력, 6) 아이디어 창출과 기록 능력의 여섯 가지 요인을 확인하였다. 둘째, 정의적 특성 요인으로서 1) 호기심이 강한 성향, 2) 완벽을 추구하는 성향, 3) 목표 지향적 자기 관리 성향, 4) 과제 집착 성향, 5) 실패에 굴하지 않는 강인한 정신, 6) 도전 정신, 7) 발명에 대한 열정의 일곱 가지 요인을 밝혀내었다. 셋째, 사회적 특성으로서 1) 유머 감각, 2) 리더십, 3) 설득력, 4) 사회 공공이익 추구의 네 가지 요인을 도출하였다. 이 연구에서 도출한 17개의 에디슨의 발명영재성 요인은 선행 연구에서 이론적으로 도출한 발명 영재성 요인에 각각 포함되고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the inventively giftedness of Thomas Edison. To accomplish this purpose content analysis method as qualitative approach was performed. To investigate the inventively giftedness of Thomas Edison four books and one thesis were analysed, and the criterion of content analysis were cognitive ability, affective trait, and social trait. The inventively giftedness of Thomas Edison that the results of this study were as follows; Firstly, diverse knowledge acquirement ability, observation ability, original thinking ability, imaginative ability, application ability, and think out ideas and memo ability were identified as cognitive abilities. Secondly, inquisitive propensity, pursuit of perfection propensity, aim-oriented self management propensity, task commitment propensity, strong spirit that overcome difficulties. challenging mind, and passion for invention were extracted as affective traits. Thirdly, sense of humor, leadership, persuasive power, and pursuit of common benefit were deduced as social traits.
