우리 사회의 양성 평등에 대한 관심은 학교 교육에도 반영되어 학생들에게 양성평등의식을 고취시키기 위한 다양한 방법들이 제시되고 있다. 그러나 양성평등교육이 구체적으로 학생들에게 전달되고 양성 평등교육이 구현되기 위해서는 교육의 콘텐츠나 제도 뿐 아니라, 실제로 이를 담당하는 교육의 주체인교사의 양성평등의식에 대해 주목해 볼 필요가 있다. 따라서 이 연구는 초등 예비교사들이 갖는 초등학교와 초등교사교육기간에서의 양성평등교육에 대한인식을 조사함으로써 초등학교 양성평등교육을 구현하기 위한 전문적인 교사양성 프로그램 개발의 기초를 마련하고자 하였다. 연구대상자는 총 459명이었으며, 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 예비교사들은 우리 사회가 아직 양성평등이 실현되었다고 판단하기는 어려우나, 초등학교 현장은 양성평등이 비교적 잘 이루어지고 있다고 보고 있다. 둘째, 예비교사들은 교사양성 프로그램에 양성평등교육은 더 강화되어야 한다고 보고 있다. 셋째, 예비교사들은 양성평등교육이 어떠한 내용을 다루는 것인지 알고 있다는 비율은 높았으나, 본인이 재학기간동안 양성평등교육에 대해서 잘 배웠다고 생각한다는 비율은 매우 낮았다. 넷째, 여학생이 남학생보다 교사교육기관에서는 양성평등교육을 더 강화해야 한다고 하여, 여학생들이 남학생보다 양성평등교육에 대한 필요성을 더 크게 인식하고 있었다. 다 섯째, 양성평등을 구현하기 위한 전문성을 갖추었다고 생각하는 정도는 4학년 학생들이 1학년 학생보다 긍정적으로 반응하고 있다.
In 21th century, our current society pursues to decrease gender discrimination and to establish a social system with gender equality. So we are trying to make diverse social systems for it. However, we need to pay more attention to the values of future teachers related to gender equality, as well as to develop the educational program including educational contents, because they can influence future children in the schools. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to establish foundation for developing teacher educational programs in order to accomplish education for gender equality in elementary level. The results of research were that 1) education for gender equality was well accomplished in the elementary level, 2) education for gender equality would be needed more as systematic manner, 3) few future teachers have a good education related to gender equality, 4) female future teachers were more likely to be interested in education for gender equality than male, and 5) seniors were more likely to be positive to have profession in education for gender equality than freshman.
