초등학교 교사가 인식한 실과교육의 문제점

Problems of Practical Arts Education Perceived by Elementary School Teachers

이 연구의 목적은 초등학교 교사가 실과교육의 문제점으로 생각하고 있는 것이 무엇인지 구명하는데 있다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 초등학교 현장에서 적극적으로 실과교육을 실천하고 있는 교사 8명, 교감 1명을 대상으로 연구자가 개발한 개방형 질문지를 이용하여 조사하였다. 질문지는 실과교육의 문제점에 대해 연구한 기존의 문헌을 고찰하여 크게 실과교육의 방향, 인식, 문제점(내부환경, 교육과정, 외부환경)으로 구성되어 있다. 조사를 통해 도출한 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등학교 교사는 실과교육의 바람직한 방향으로 현재 실과교육에서 강조하고 있는 실천, 노작, 실생활, 진로의 성격에 동의하고 있었으며, 실과교과교육의 활성화뿐만 아니라 학교육전반에 실과교육의 철학이 반영되길 바라고 있었다. 둘째, 실과교육을 적극적으로 실천하고 있는 초등학교 교사는 실과교육의 필요성과 중요성을 인식하고 있으나 주변 교사는 실과교육에 대해 부정적인 인식을 가지고 있었다. 셋째, 초등학교 교사가 생각하는 학교내부에서의 실과교육의 문제점으로는 학교구성원들이 실과교육에 대한 필요성을 느끼지 못하고 있는 것이 가장 큰 문제점이며 교사의 실과교과 지도 역량의 부족, 시설 및 교구의 부족, 인력지원의 부족 등이 문제점으로 파악되었다. 넷째, 초등학교 교사가 생각하는 실과 교육과정 및 교과서의 문제점은 과학/실과군에 따른 위기, 현장 부적합성, 개발과정에서의 교사참여 부족 등으로 파악되었다. 다섯째, 초등학교 교사가 생각하는 학교외부환경 측면에서의 실과교육의 문제점으로는 실과 학문영역간 이기주의, 효용성이 낮은 대학원과 교육행정기관의 무관심이었다.

The purpose of this study was to identify the major problems that elementary school teachers perceived in implementing practical arts education. In order to investigate the problems to 9 teachers open-ended questionnaire was used. Based on the findings of the study, major conclusions of this study were as follows: First, Teachers think that the practical, work-oriented, real life, career education was important for the practical arts education. And teachers hoped that the philosophy of practical arts education would be overall reflected in the elementary school. Second, A lot of teachers had negative perceptions of practical arts education. Third, problems inside the school were a lack of teachers’ recognition of practical arts education, facility and equipment, assistants. Fourth, problems in the curriculum and textbook was the [Science/Practical Arts] subject, inadequate on-site, a lack of participation in the development. Fifth, problems outside the school were collective selfishness in the professors and indifference of the office of education.
