본 연구는 제 7차 교육과정의 4학년 교과와 5, 6학년 실과교과를 분석하여 얻어진 환경교육과 관련한 내용을 토대로 NIE를 활용한 환경교육 프로그램을 개발하여 NIE를 활용한 환경교육이 초등학생의 환경친화적 태도에 영향을 미치는가를 검증하고자 하였다. 효과 검증은 부산광역시 북구 D초등학교 4학년 2개 반 53명을 대상으로하여 실험집단은 NIE를 활용한 환경교육프로그램을 적용하고, 비교집단은 교과서에 제시되어 있는 일반적인 수업을 실시하였으며 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 실험 집단을 대상으로 환경문제에 대한 관심도 및 학습욕구의 변화를 알기 위해 사전·사후검사를 분석한 결과 환경에 대한 관심도와 학습 욕구 모두 긍정적 응답비율이 높아지고 부정적 응답비율은 줄어 든 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 둘째, NIE를 활용한 환경교육 프로그램을 적용한 실험집단과 전통적인 수업의 비교집단 간에 환경친화적 태도 전체와 구두진술·활동진술·정서영역에서 실험집단 학생의 환경친화적 태도가 향상된 것이 확인되었다. 이상의 연구 결과를 볼 때 NIE를 활용한 환경교육이 초등학생의 환경친화적 태도에 긍정적인 도움을줄 것으로 보인다. 따라서 실생활의 다양한 경험과 구체적 사례를 생생하게 담고 있는 신문의 활용은 학생들에게 환경에 대한 바람직한 태도를 기르고 환경 친화적으로 생활할 수 있는 기초를 마련해 줄수 있다는 관점에서 매우 도움이 될 것이다
Based on the course of fourth-year in elementary school and a Practical Arts Education of fifth- and sixth-year during seventh curriculum, this study develops the environmental education using NIE program. Moreover, this study examines the effects of the program on elementary school students pro-environmental attitudes. To verify the program, the experiment is conducted to the fifty-three students in the two fourth-year classes of D elementary school located in Buk-gu, Busan, Korea. The environmental education using NIE program is applied to one of the classes and general course is conducted in the other class for comparison. Firstly, the result of the experiment indicates that theenvironmental education using NIE program leads to the higher interest in the environment and learning desire in the environmental study. After conducting the program, more students answer in the affirmative and less students answer in negative than before. Secondly, compared to the class which is taught in the general curriculum, the students who are taught by the program shows improvement in their attitudes in the area of pro-environmental attitudes and verbal statement·action statement·emotion. According to the result of the study, it can be assumed that theenvironmental education using NIE programhas positive effects on the pre-environmental attitudes of elementary school students. Thus, utilizing the newspaper which contains practical experiences and concrete cases will be very helpful for students to improve their attitudes towards environment and arrange the basis of pro-environmental life.
