본 연구는 7차 교육과정의 5학년 실과 교과서와 교사용 지도서에서 지속가능발전교육 관련 내용을 분석한 다음, 이에 대한 시사점을 바탕으로 개발된 지속가능발전교육 프로그램이 초등학생의 문제해결력에 미치는 영향을 검증하였다. 연구 결과, 초등학생의 문제해결력에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위하여 7차 초등교육과정의 5학년 실과교과서 및 지도서에서 지속가능발전교육과 관련된 단원 내용을 분석하여, 실과콘텐츠를 적용한 지속가능발전교육 프로그램을 개발하였다. 개발된 지속가능발전교육 프로그램을 적용한 수업은 교과서를 수업한 통제집단에 비하여, 초등학생의 문제해결력에 긍정적 영향을 미쳤을 뿐만 아니라 문제해결력의 하위영역간에 정적인 상관관계를 보여주었다. 그리고 정성적 분석을 통해, 개발된 프로그램을 진행하는 동안학생들은 문제를 인식하고 해결하기 위하여 다각적으로 활동에 관심을 갖게 되었음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 얻게 된 결론을 종합적으로 볼 때, 실과 콘텐츠를 적용한 지속가능발전교육 프로그램은 학생들이 지속가능한 삶을 영위하고, 미래지향적인 삶을 추구하기 위해 갖추어야 할 문제해결능력에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 볼 수 있다. 따라서 지속가능발전과 연계된 실과교육 프로그램을 초등교육현장에서 활용할 수 있는 체계적인 방안을 포함한 심층적인 연구와 교수·학습 활동에 관한 후속 연구가 필요하다고 사료된다.
This study was to develop sustainable development program based practical arts contents for 5th graders of elementary school, and to investigate the influence on capability to solve problems of 5th graders elementary school students in Gyeonggi-Do. To achieve the purpose, documentary and investigatory research was conducted and thereafter the program developed and implemented following the 3 stages on planning, research/execution and arrangement. The students were divided into an experiment group and a control group. A reconstructed questionnaire through Seo et al(2009)′s test tool was used to survey the affects of educational program for sustainable development. The I-STATistics program was used to analyze the results. The major results of this study were as follows: First, the researcher was able to develop and apply an educational program for sustainable development based on practical arts contents by extracting and recreating the sustainable development related contents from practical arts of the 5th grader curriculum. Second, the educational program for sustainable development had a positive effect on the problem-solving abilities for elementary school students. Third, it had a positive correlation among the 5 subdomains of sensitiveness, exquisiteness, fluency, creativity and flexibility. Fourth, according to qualitative results, students appear to be more concerned in the problem-solving. In conclusion, the educational program for sustainable development was effectively used on elementary school students and also proved to have a positive affect on 5th grader′s problem-solving abilities. Therefore, in-depth study and follow-up research on teaching and learning activity should be highly required.
